Air Jordan V was an epic edition designed by Tinker Hatfield who has already become the prime factor of Jordan fusion designing in the year 1990. It has borrowed many of its sneaker features from the previous editions, even though has made a major effort for getting a fresh look. The mesmerizing design of the sneaker was purely an inspiration from the world war III fighter mustang planes. The Air sole signature statement was carried over from the former two sneakers in the Jordan tale. The offset ankle collar for securing more flexibility and higher overall cuts gives an outstanding touch to the kick.
The colour radians used for the sneakers was outspoken as it was given Grape Purple and emerald colourway. It was the first time such colours were used on a basketball shoe. It was a bitter time for the bulls but the sneakers yield bigger in the market. The retail price of the shoes was $125 when it first debuted the global market. Air Jordan 5 Pre grape nicknamed Hornets is a 2015 release of the classic Air Jordan 5. The similar colour scheme to Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets franchise and the Midnight Navy and Turquoise colourway of the sneaker gathered the nickname Hornets. A reflective silver tongue is the signature element in the edition that makes it stand out from other colourways.
2) Air Jordan 5 WMNS Sunset
Air Jordan 5 Sunset is the first sneaker released in the Air Jordan 5 colourway for the women sneakerheads. Later for the women fanatics, there was three more release from the brand colourway, Air Jordan V Shy Pink and two distinct colourways of the Air Jordan V Low. The Sunset features the fire red, marquee colour of the Air Jordan V in the inner lining and sole. The shark teeth are a bright sunset orange. As a whole it is a must grab statement for its women sneakerheads.
3) Air Jordan 5 Olive Green
Air Jordan 5 Olive Green belongs to the 2006 release. The sneaker had a distressed upper reminiscent of Army fatigues, an olive green midsole, and an orange accent. As the kick have a reflection to the Jordan x Undefeated retro IV it also gained the nickname undefeated.
4) Air Jordan 5 Low Alternate 90
Air Jordan 5 Low Alternate 90 belongs to the Alternate collection of the brand which has three more shoes joining the series. Black nubuck covers the uppers and most of the midsole added red hints on the liner and the transparent mesh panelling that appears to be the 3M tongue. The kick was released on January 30th of 2017 at a price of $175.
5) Air Jordan 5 Green Bean
The typical feature of 3M tongue puts the Air Jordan 5 stand out from the usual classic wears of the Jordan line up. But Air Jordan 5 Green Bean which is a 2006 release took the 3M tongue to another level by covering the entire upper in 3M. The green trim made it the most flashy Air Jordan till dated. The price of the kick has steadily increased in the past years as the shoes have a strong fan base.
6) Air Jordan 5 Bel Air
Air Jordan 5 Bel Air was debuted way back in October 2013. Will Smith is the hardcore fan of the Air Jordan brand and even has business tie-ups with the brand was very crazy to wear the brand kicks in most of his episodes of the well-viewed tv show the fresh prince of bel air. The release of the shoe is an inspiration from the 90’s show. Featured in a cool grey, court purple, game royal and club pink colour scheme the sneaker had all the vibrant colours used in that time. Other embellishments of the shoe include the wild print on the inner lining, mismatched coloured jump man heel logos, and clear outsoles.
7) Air Jordan 5 Laney
Air Jordan 5 Laney was released to give homage to the legend Michael Jordan’s hedging days at the Laney high school in Wilmington. The brand worked so keenly on each of its sneakers to highlight the legacy of the famous players memorable moments. In the school, he was set back from the basketball as his body parameters were low. But this was the first motivation he got to become the black cat in basketball history. The colour scheme of the shoe was Laney’s blue and yellow colour scheme. Originally the kick was released in 2000 but re-released on 2013 too. Later some of the editions received the Laney makeover. Again the fanatics can expect the Laney colourways in the shelves in 2019 also as a new Air Jordan Retro 5+ JSP which will be taking a new step on the usual scheme
8) Air Jordan 5 Low Cavs
Air Jordan 5 low Cavs was made to give homage to the 69-point performance of the legend Michael Jordan in his play during the 1989-1990 season against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Inspired by the stepping stone the sneaker comes in the deep royal blue, midnight navy, atomic orange, and team orange colourways. Upper length covered by the blue-based nubuck with a 3M reflective tongue and orange accents hitting the inner tongue coupled with some style factors like Jump man logo, shark teeth that overlays the white midsole paired with the translucent outsole completes the look.
9) Air Jordan 5 Oreo
The silhouette was released in November of 2013 to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of the most boasted design so that includes some new embellishments like an anthracite tongue, a 23 stitched on the lateral side of the heel and an icy blue translucent outsole. The kick also features black nubuck on the upper and white midsole dappled with shark teeth.
10) Air Jordan 5 Shanghai
Air Jordan 5 Shanghai was an exclusive release to shanghai china in September 2013. Like many other editions of overseas exclusives, Air Jordan 5 was used as an international release. The kick features a flipped black version of the Laney colourway with an exclaim to the city of Shanghai with a graphic stitched on the heel. The shoe was sold for a retail price of $160.
11) Air Jordan 5 Low Fire red
Air Jordan 5 Low Fire red is the OG white collection, dressed up in the fire red and black colourway of the Air Jordan 5 comes back in a low top form for the first time. The Jordan represents a white-based leather upper with red and black accents. The shoes were released on March 12th, 2016.
12) Air Jordan 5 Doernbecher
Air Jordan 5 Doernbecher is a tribute to the talented young athlete on both baseball diamond and basketball court. He was admitted to the OHSU Doernbecher children’s hospital after a cardiac arrest during the practice. In the hospital days, he worked on sketches for a special Air Jordan 5 edition but before completing the design he tragically passed away. Later Air Jordan completed the design and pushed the release as a homage to the player. The kick features a black patent leather upper covered with a black light ink printed poem Issac wrote the day before his passing. Issac’s initial, date of birth and date of passing appear inside of the tongue. The additional embellishments include his jersey numbers and glow in the dark accents.
13) Air Jordan 5 Fire Red
The sneaker comes under the countdown pack that premiered in 2008. The version becomes outstanding due to their iconic fire red makeup. It shows all the original classy touch of a white leather upper, fire red accents, black detailing, reflective tongues and 23 embroidered on the heel. The missing factor was the Nike air on the heels.
14) Air Jordan 5 Tokyo 23
Air Jordan 5 Tokyo 23 was a limited edition to commemorate the opening of the Jordan Tokyo 23 which is a renowned sportswear store in Tokyo. The sneaker features a suede yellow upper, signature 3M metallic tongue and clear accents as the sole and netting. The collaboration holds one more signature touch in it as the cement print in black and yellow. The sidewall has a unique 23 symbol to highlight the Shibuya ward of Japan.
15) Air Jordan 5 Black/ Metallic Silver
Air Jordan 5 Black/ Metallic Silver is a remastered design of the classy air Jordan 5. The sneaker features a black nubuck upper coupled by the signature design of 3M tongue, fire red accents and an icy outsole with Nike Air on the heels. The kick was released on July 23, 2016, with a retail price of $220.
